Various Types of Spyware The word spyware
has been applied to any applications or program on your PC
that sends information about you without your knowledge or
explicit permission. Most spyware programs DO NOT notify you that they
send information back to a remote server. There are many Spyware
applications that may attack your PC.
Spyware If you have downloaded a software from the Internet,
you may have also unknowingly downloaded a spyware. Spyware is often
installed as part of a 3rd party software, without the your
knowledge. Although spyware can often be attached to
shareware, spyware can also download with legitimate commercial
software which transmit your personal information back to the
distributor. In most commercial instances, you are asked to accept the
terms of the End User License Agreement – which may include the
rights to send this information.
Scumware The term scumware is often used to describe
programs that interrupt or redirect your Internet surfing. Scumware
can also send your personal information, whether or not you’ve
downloaded a program from a particular website. It can be neatly packaged
with some of the Internet’s most popular programs, and it is most often
installed on your PC without your consent.
Malware The term malware is used to describe the more
hostile types of spyware. It actually means "malicious software" and can
cover a wide range of aggressive programs such as Worms, Trojan Horses and Viruses. This
spyware is software that is specifically designed to disrupt
or damage a PC, files or its components.
