Adware
The term adware describes a program that is downloaded from the Internet which the distributor uses to display ads on your PC. Adware programs mainly display blinking ads or pop-ups windows. These ads display as targeted links or banners. The ads generate revenue for the companies advertised – who have paid for the exposure in your office or home.

Adware often require that you click on an ACCEPT button before the program can be installed or downloaded to your PC. Clicking the I ACCEPT usually means that you have read and agreed to the terms of the End User License Agreement, which includes the adware – which makes the transmission of your browsing habits perfectly legal.

Adware can also send your browsing habits back to a host server. This server then sends you advertisements based on the websites you have visited.

Most of us don't read the EULA and simply accept the installation. Do you remember ever clicking "I agree" without reading what you were agreeing to? Often, when you install a free program, adware either installs on your PC, or you are asked if you want to install is as a supporting application. If we want to be sure your computers are adware free, we need to learn to read the EULA when installing any software. Otherwise, the blame may fall on ourselves.
